Theme day for the Arctic fox

In February, the Norwegian Institute for Nature Research (NINA) and the Arctic University of Norway (UiT) arranged a theme day which focused on the threats facing the Arctic fox.

Everyone can help the Arctic fox – don’t feed the red fox!

Food waste, waste from gutting fish, hunting waste and litter left behind in the mountains attract red foxes, so we can all help to prevent this. Felles Fjellrev is today launching a campaign to remind those visiting the mountains to collect all their waste and take it away with them.

GPS collar reveals the Arctic fox’s secrets

Last week, nine Arctic foxes, bred as part of the Arctic fox breeding programme implemented by the Norwegian Institute for Nature Research (NINA), were released in the Sylarna mountain range in Norway..

Happy cubs in the mountains

Check out the fantastic clip from the Västerbotten County Administrative Board showing three blue, two white and three sand-coloured Arctic fox cubs playing together. Sand-coloured Arctic foxes are rare, so it’s even more exciting that they’ve been caught on film!
